U.S. officials have confirmed that Congressman Miguel Guterres Theos has been arrested and prosecuted.
The deputy has a formal indictment filed by a federal grand jury in Miami dated March 11 this year.
The United States points out that Gutierrez Theos has been active since 2014 and 2017 in a transnational drug network operating in the Dominican Republic, Colombia and the United States.
“Federal prosecutes Gutierrez Theas and others on three counts: conspiracy to distribute cocaine, knowing that it will be imported into the United States; conspiracy to import cocaine into the United States; and conspiracy to possess cocaine for distribution purposes.” U.S. officials.

The legislator was arrested when he arrived on a commercial flight from the Dominican Republic to the Miami terminal and was immediately detained by U.S. authorities in response to the charges against him.
In a statement, the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) distanced itself from a subsidiary movement, warning that violators would face the consequences of justice and expulsion from the party.
The Chamber of Deputies also released a document explaining that they must respect the results of the Dominican and international authorities’ investigation, although they did not state any disciplinary process that would expose the vice president of Santiago de los Caballeros. .
