Senior television journalist Efron Arroyo has died, WAPA television reported Thursday.
The cause of his death is not yet known, but an emotional message was sent to him on the social networks of his Noticentro news broadcast.
“We mourn the death of our fellow journalist and historian Efron Arroyo from Wapa TV,” the message read on his Twitter account.

George Hidalgo, President of Wapa Television, praised the man who was named the “Historian of Waba” in his life.
“In the short time I have met Efron, I have felt the emphasis he has placed on Wappa and Puerto Rico. He said in a written statement.
Arroyo was the source of great projects for his knowledge and excellent work in collecting and archiving the most profound historical images in Puerto Rican history.
In April, he was recognized and honored in life for his outstanding work, career and dedication. At that time, he was named the “Historian of Waba” and since then, he has worked on various projects that provide a continuum to the enviable knowledge of our country’s history. At the time, Arroyo felt respected, grateful and excited.
Today, all Wapa Television’s programming is dedicated to his life.
