This Is It has done the unthinkable. The posthumous rehearsal film that most people had dismissed as a blatant cash grab from the Jackson estate, is the most honest portrayal of a man driven to regain his status as the King Of Pop. A perfectionist and control freak, Jackson leads his band and dancers around the Staple Center stage like a hippie dictator, giving curt criticisms, followed by “ it’s all for the love” as words of re- assurance.
The dancers are all the cream of the crop, but Jackson still manages to outshine them even at 50, moving like a man possessed by the spirit of his former self. Seeing the level of professionalism, and the hands- on approach that he took with every aspect of the production, and the magnitude of wonder that fueled him creatively will remind the whole world why we fell in love with Michael in the first place.
If you are looking for closure on Jackson’s death, “This Is It."
