Ottawa-based Kristina Maria is set to release her debut album, Tell The World (Lupo One / Fontana North), on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Recorded over the past 18 months in studios around the globe including Sweden, Los Angeles, Miami and Montreal, Kristina Maria co-wrote 11 of the 14 songs on the album. Writer/producer collaborations include Kristian Lundin, Andreas Carlsson, Anders Bagge, Peer Astrom, Billy Steinberg, Josh Alexander, and JC Chasez from *N Sync. Collectively they have worked with Céline Dion, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Jennifer Lopez.
The release of Tell The World follows the success of Maria's first two singles "Let's Play" and "Co-Pilot." Combined digital sales of the singles have surpassed 110,000 and have made a significant impact at Canadian radio. "Let's Play" has garnered three Canadian Radio Music Award nominations in the SOCAN Song of the Year, Hot AC and Dance/Urban/Rhythmic categories and reached #1 on both the BDS Canadian and Billboard Emerging Canadian Artists charts. "Co-Pilot" peaked at #2 on the Billboard Emerging Canadian Artists chart and #5 on the BDS Canadian chart. Maria's new single, "Our Song Comes On," is already at #16 on the Billboard Emerging Canadian Artists chart.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Kristina Maria like many artists knew she wanted to pursue a musical career early in her life. She began intensive vocal training at the Ottawa Conservatory in her early teens and landed a management deal with Vito Luprano, a Canadian music industry veteran, the first time they met. "She started singing a cappella and I stopped her and said, 'You have a deal!'," recalls Luprano. For more than 20 years, Luprano was Sony Music's Senior Vice President, acting as artistic director for Celine Dion's recording career and has worked with many other Canadian artists. He is now out of semi-retirement, specifically for Kristina Maria.
