Juno Awards Off To A Great Start In Regina

The JUNO Awards
With the presentation only hours away, Regina correspondent Andrea Lawrence checked in at the some of the pre-event activities. Lawrence attended a media reception with Canadian icon, and Juno host, Michael Buble, a broadcast rehearsal and other events.
“The excitement is sending chills down everyone’s spine!” Lawrence writes. “Wait, that’s just from the snow that is still several feet high here in Regina! So far I had the pleasure of seeing a rehearsal by Hannah Georgas. She sounds great and is definitely ready to be one of the many acts to step on the stage, which, by the way, was designed by Pete Faragher, who has a definite passion and flair for grand design. The producer for the 2013 Juno Awards is John Brunton. I was present for a quick interview, and John clearly has this production flowing along nicely. The stage looks great and has a few effects that will enhance the Juno broadcast.”
“The reception was a big hit. It was held in the Drill Hall at the RCMP Depot in Regina. The cadets even served us drinks and hors d’oeuvres. The food included everything from mushrooms to hummus and a few in between unknowns! Everyone who was anyone was there including our retired Mayor Pat Fiacco! The drinks were strong and the entertainment was great. Colin James performed a set for the Welcome Reception guests. It was fun talking to Victoria Duffield, The Matinee, Yukon Blonde and Hannah Georgas. They were all really down to earth people and enjoying themselves as well. A few of the bands and singers present include Hannah Georgas, Amelia Curran, Belle Plaine, Colin James, The Matinee, The Sheepdogs, Yukon Blonde, Donny Parenteau, Dragonette, Five Alarm Funk, Don Amero, Jeniffer Gasoi, Strumbellas and Victoria Duffield, music journalist Larry Leblanc and recording engineer Joby Baker.
The 2013 Juno Awards will be broadcast on CTV from the Brandt Centre in Regina live in Atlantic Canada, Québec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan at 8 p.m. ET (9 p.m. AT/6 p.m. CT), as well as at 8 p.m. CT/MT/PT in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia.
