Santo Domingo, RD.
Former Republican Vice President Margarita Sedeno has confirmed her divorce from former Republican President Lionel Fernandez this morning.
Confirmation comes after months of gossip and comments on social media about the couple’s separation. His words came on the radio show “This Is Not Radio” which airs every morning on Alofoke 99.3 FM.
Lionel Fernandez and Margarita Cedeno were married in 2003 and gave birth to Yolanda America, the youngest daughter of two political leaders.
When Lionel Fernandez filed his candidacy for the Dominican Liberation Party’s presidential nomination in 2019, the last public appearance of affection between the couple occurred. At the end of the campaign in a caravan, Cedeño reached the vehicle in which her husband was traveling, climbed into it and gave a kiss, much to the surprise of those present.
He emphasized that the decision was not a signal of a formal antitrust inquiry into Lionel Fernandez’s candidacy for the presidency. He said he got a higher score on the poll than all the other applicants.
“Yes, we decided to lead separate lives among the staff, but we are always very intertwined. Our girl unites us. We are united by a lot of affection, a lot of affection, respect, mutual respect,” she said during the interview.
Sedeno has announced that he will run for the presidency of the Dominican Liberation Party, where he will run against Francisco Domino’s Brito, Abel Martinez, Maritza Hernandez and Karen Ricardo.
Fernandez is the leader of the Fuerza del Pueblo party, which was formed as a result of his departure from the PLD following the results of the 2019 primary elections.
