Ingrid Gatin Ready For 2013 Cross-Canada Tour

Ingrid GatinWinnipeg-based artist/musician Ingrid Gatin will be touring Canada in support of her newest full-length release, 1000 Lives. Joining her is Montréal-based looping project Twin Voices. Together they create indie-folk magic on stage with collaborations for many of the tracks from Ingrid’s new album, as well as the newest Twin Voices EP, live-looping guitar, violin and ethereal vocals, with accordion, piano, soul-style vocals and harmonies.
Gatin creates soundscapes and dreamscapes, pulling the listener along into her reveries with her soulful and sultry voice. You can hear strains of 70’s soul in the air, and hints of Balkan bravado, but through it all Ingrid evokes emotion, longing, and romance in every song.  Ingrid’s new full-length album 1000 Lives, set for release on February 5th, was created with grammy-nominated engineer/producer Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Basia Bulat, The Dears) between a loft and a church in Winnipeg and Howard’s studio in Montréal.

She started to weave herself into Canada’s artistic landscape in 2009, with her first full-length album Broken Tambourine. After gaining immediate and well-deserved attention from national CBC radio, Broken Tambourine entered into the top 20 on Earshot! charts soon after its release. In between constant touring and recording, Ingrid has written music in the forests of Northern Saskatchewan, jumped aboard train cars to entertain passengers, and acted as artist-in-residence at New Brunswick’s Struts Gallery.  Born and raised on the Canadian prairies, dramatic landscapes and endless skies have fed her imagination since she was a child. She credits her innovation to small towns and swings, the wildness of the surrounding nature, and piano lessons in her Aunt’s home at four years old.
