Extreme Ready To Kick Off Bluesfest Windsor This Week

Extreme2018American funk rockers Extreme are one of two headliners opening up this year’s Bluesfest Windsor on Thursday, July 12. They will be joined by classic rockers Night Ranger and Windsor band Drop Dead Famous.

It all started when four Boston-bred kids joined forces in the late ‘80s to form Extreme. With an original new sound and groundbreaking records, the foursome was immediately recognized as innovators in the world of rock & roll. The band has had numerous hit singles including More Than Words, Hole Hearted and Get the Funk Out from the album Pornograffitti, as well as other fan favourites like Mutha (Don’t Wanna Go to School Today), Kid Ego and Stop The World.

The band’s popularity is fueled by guitar virtuoso Nuno Bettencourt’s signature style, which fits nicely beside such iconic guitar heroes as Brian May of Queen and Eddie Van Halen. The band will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut self-titled album shortly and recently finished a 25th anniversary tour for Pornograffitti.

YQG Rocks and 519 Magazine had a chat with the guitarist about some of that history, his guitars of choice and some of the artists he’s worked with, including Nickelback, Janet Jackson, the late Robert Palmer and more.

Tickets for the Bluesfest show can be purchased in advance or at the gate. Bluesfest runs from July 12 to 15 at Riverfront Festival Plaza in Windsor.
