With the defeat against Bolivia in La Paz this Thursday, the Paraguayan team moved from sixth to eighth out of ten teams.
The Paraguayan Football Association (ABF) sacked Argentina’s Eduardo Periso on Thursday after their defeat to Bolivia Alfroza (4-0) in La Paz on Thursday.
“ABF announces suspension of Eduardo Periso as captain of Paraguay national team,” the ABF announced on its Twitter account.
“We would like to inform you that members of our beloved Alberza’s new technology leadership will be in touch in the next few days,” the statement added.
With their defeat to Bolivia in La Paz this Thursday, the Paraguayan team moved from sixth to eighth out of ten teams in the World Championship rankings.
In the November combo, Alproza will face Chile as a local and Colombia as a spectator.
The dismissal of Periso, a disciple of Marcelo Pizza, was hastened by the defeat this Thursday, although Chile had already been in a tight spot since the fall last Sunday.
Sports media quoted Argentina’s Guillermo and Gustavo Barros Sheloto as twin candidates to replace ‘Toto’ Periso on Thursday night.
The Argentine coach, who was heavily criticized by Paraguay fans, was hired in February 2019. He directed 31 games, including 7 wins, 13 draws and 11 defeats, with 37% performance.
According to APF figures, his team scored 31 goals, leaving 39 goals and scoring 34 points out of a possible 93.
In the draw, Paraguay won 2 of 12 matches, both against the last Venezuela of the tournament. He equalized 6 and failed. He has more goals against (17) than (9) in favor of his team.
“I want Paraguay to go to Qatar with or without me,” Perizo said of giving “Green” to his team before the victory. (D)
