Leslie Grace, star of “Batgirl” — the $90 million Warner Brothers movie — spoke about the unexpected twist of fate for the first time.
The post was revealed this week The film’s cast and crew were not informed that the studio had put their multi-million dollar project on hold.
Sharing behind-the-scenes snapshots from the movie, Grace said she was “proud” of the movie in her first social media post since the sad news.
“Querida Familia!” In the wake of the recent news about our Batgirl movie, I am proud of the love, hard work and intent that all the wonderful cast and tireless crew have put into this movie over the course of seven months in Scotland,” she wrote in Instagram share.
“I feel fortunate to have worked among the absolute greats and have had lifelong relationships in the process!”
Lin-Manuel Miranda star singing “In The Heights” added: “To every Batgirl fan – thank you for the love and faith, for allowing me to wear the cape and become, as Babs said my best, ‘my damned hero. ! “
Grace’s post came just hours after directors Adel Elaraby and Bilal Falah released their own statement about the film’s unexpected cancellation.
The duo – who also directed “Bad Boys for Life” – said they were “sad and shocked” by the fate of the film, which also starred Michael Keaton, JK Simmons and Brendan Fraser.
“We still don’t believe it. As directors, it’s important that our work is shown to audiences, and while the film is far from finished, we hope that fans around the world will have the opportunity to see the final film and embrace it for themselves,” they wrote.
“Our cast and amazing cast did an amazing job and worked hard to bring Batgirl to life. We are forever grateful to be a part of this team.”
The film makers thanked their team, “especially the great Leslie Grace, who portrayed Batgirl with so much passion, dedication, and humanity.”
“Anyway, as a Batman fan since we were little kids, it was a privilege and an honor to be a part of DCEU, even if only for a short time. Batgirl for Life,” Elaraby and Falah added.
