All Star Bruce Springsteen Tribute Playing Windsor

Tommy-Youngsteen

It all started out as a Tom Petty, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen casual tribute band seven years ago, but Tommy Youngsteen found a niche for themselves as the country’s premiere Springsteen tribute and they have fans like wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper and Montreal Canadiens commentator Chantal Desjardins.

Featuring an all-star Juno Award winning supergroup made up of members and alumni from The Sam Roberts Band, Stars, The Stills, Sloan, The Trews, The Arkells, Zeus, Great Lake Swimmers and The Grapes of Wrath, Tommy Youngsteen audiences are not only getting a dose of “The Boss”, they’re also getting to watch some of the country’s best musicians rock the house.

The group is playing The Capitol Theatre on Friday (Oct. 6) for a special show featuring a performance of the classic 80s album Born In The USA. The band will perform the album in its entirety in the first half of the show and then return to the stage for a round of Springsteen hits and rarities.

born-in-the-us-eh“Born In The USA is a very 80s sounding record and it’s produced with a big stadium sound,” says the bands founder Alan Snoddy. “People don’t really listen to albums as full albums anymore, so for us to play it in the order that they originally intended it, we’ll hopefully capture a little bit of what Springsteen was trying to say at the time.”

Sadly, this week the world lost Tom Petty, the rocker who influenced the first part of name Tommy Youngsteen. Although the Windsor show will be a Springsteen show, the band may perform a small tribute to the Free Fallin’ singer.

“Tom Petty was a great American songwriter and it sort of suits the Born In The USA theme of the show,” Snoddy adds. “When he wrote, he captured the stories of everyday people very well, and along with Springsteen, that’s what makes their music so popular. They’re not songs where the audience sees them on stage, they’re songs where the audience sees themselves.”

The show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online or at the door.
