Adrian Belew Leaves Vancouver Fans Wanting More

Adrian Belew

October 11, 2009
The Venue – Vancouver, BC

Being someone who mostly listens to very hard metal I was a little unsure of what to expect going to see this show. “Wow” was all I could say after the first 2 songs. I could tell right away this was going to be an amazing show. Adrian has been a member of many bands over the years, including Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads, King Crimson and The Bears. His new band called the Power Trio includes siblings Julie Slick (Bass) and Eric Slick (Drums).

Adrian was nothing less than a magician on the guitar. He did things with his Parker Signature Fly guitar that I have never seen or heard come from a guitar in my life. I have seen many great guitar players in my life time of concert going and have to admit that Adrian is one of the best if not the best guitar player I have seen. I know it has to be hard to complement the playing status of a guitarist like Adrian but I have to say that Julie and Eric although being young into their careers sounded like seasoned veterans next to him. They played songs from their new album as well as songs from Adrian’s long career with many amazing bands. Their first album simply titled E has been available since July 2009 and is a must have for any Adrian Belew fans and new fans like myself.

Before we knew it the encore songs were done and the Power Trio took the front of the stage thanking their fans for coming. Everyone seemed to be standing in shock that a night of great entertainment was over. That’s how you know you have been to a great concert when the band leaves the stage after a long show and the whole crowd stands there wanting more! One thing I know for sure is that the next time the Power Trio makes their way back to Vancouver I will be attending their show and people that did not go this time should go check them out for sure and hear for yourself. For the people that are reading this, that are like I was, are not really familiar with Adrian Belew, you can check him out at his website.
